Job Description: The Tool Room Attendant reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for tool storage, tool care, and daily issue of portable tools and consumable supplies to QED tradesmen.
Duties include:
- Issue portable tools from the Tool Room at the beginning of the work day
- Account for tools as tradesmen return the tools to the shop
- Clean and lubricate portable tools
- Identify tools which require repair
- Issue and control consumable supplies
- Reorder consumable supplies
- Drive a company pick-up truck to pick up supplies from local vendors
- All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements / Skill Sets: The candidate must be a U.S. citizen, have a High School Diploma or equivalent, possess a valid Driver License, have reliable transportation, be able to climb vertical/inclined ladders to access work areas aboard US Navy ships, be physically able to work aboard ship under varying environmental conditions (heat & humidity), and comply with OSHA safety regulations.
The candidate must have at least one year of experience (combined) in the ship repair industry, on US Navy active duty, or in the Merchant Marine. Familiarity with tools and their uses, data entry, and inventory control.
