Job Description: The candidate will have experience in planning and estimating the accomplishment of ship/craft repairs and alterations (Primarily Shipboard Habitability and Sheetmetal), including equipment removal and installation. Candidate must be a self-starter and have the ability to work in a dynamic working environment. Must be able to accomplish ship checks.
The position requires significant knowledge and experience with reviewing work specifications, engineering drawings and NAVSEA standard items in order to provide both labor and material estimates. Safety and quality requirements must be included in the estimates therefore the candidate shall have a working knowledge of quality and safety requirements as they apply to Navy ship repair and modification work.
Job Requirements/skill sets: Candidate should have at least five (5) years of experience in the marine industry estimating cost for shipboard industrial work using specifications and related drawings, have HM&E experience and be familiar with NAVSEA standard items. The candidate should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products with substantial experience working with Excel.
The candidate must possess excellent communication skills to coordinate with project managers, engineering staff and material vendors. The candidate should have the ability and willingness to travel within the continental U.S., this travel (less than 5%) would include travel to customer sites and potentially shipboard checks to determine exact component locations and other installation conditions. The candidate must maintain a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Education: The candidate must be a high school graduate. Candidate shall also have at least two (2) years of education in a technical/vocational school, apprentice training, or equivalent.
